151268 2003-06-09 10:37:00 Hi

This may be straight forward, or it may be difficult. I am wanting to create on a webpage a way so that someone can see the first line on a paragraph, then if they want to read more they click on a link that will cause the paragraph to expand.

Essentially i want to have text hidden on a page, and if the person wants to read more it becomess unhidden by a click of a btton. I do not want to take them to a new page, or to scroll down on a page. I really want it to hide and unhide at the click of a button.

However I don't really know where to start. Can people please suggest on how this may be done, or point me to some good website resources to do this (or even some terms to search by as I don't really know the technical terms for this action). I really would like to know how to do this...

Thank you in advance.

The only way, I can think that you can do that is with java scrip or somthing like that.

Some one else might be able to give you some good sites to visit to get this type of scrip.

151270 2003-06-09 21:55:00 Thanks Stu. I've been having a look at various JavaScript sites, but I can only find scripts that will load up the text in a new window. I'm still trying to find one that will hide and unhide text...

Does anybody know if/how this is possible??

151271 2003-06-09 22:05:00 Yes, it is definitely possible - using either Javascript or DHTML. I'll have a look around today and if I find something I'll post a link in here.

151273 2003-06-09 22:53:00 You could use multiple style sheets to achieve something like that. Could take quite a while to get it all sorted though. -=JM=- (16)
151274 2003-06-10 01:33:00 Using style sheets to do that? Can you provide any hints on how this may be done? Dunno Anon (2431)

I think the right-hand side-bar at ThinkLab has what you're looking for. You can email Aaron at ThinkLab and ask him for the script - there's a download email link for getting that script on his site. I knew I'd seen something like it recently :D
