| 151579 | 2003-06-10 11:09:00 | I have a problem with Explorer [IE6.0 patched in W98SE patched] and it just recently began giving various error messages but one of which is: "EXPLORER caused an exception c06d007eH in module SENS.DLL at 017f:6010857f". Other error messages have reported impacts on other windows modules. I've done virus checks, reloaded wsock32, etc and seem to have exhausted an effective fix apart from the perhaps obvious fix of an overwrite reload of Explorer. I presume I can do this ex the W98 CD. My question is will doing the reload cause me to lose anything like my mail filters or ??? and if so how do I save them. Having painfully collected the mail filters to reduce spam I'd hate to lose them! | razzz (2672) | ||
| 151580 | 2003-06-10 12:30:00 | Its certainly pointing to Virus activity . CAUSE This behavior could occur if your computer is infected with the W95 . MTX or Matrix virus, or a variant of this virus such as the W95 . Oisdbo, W95 . MTX . dr, W95 . MTX ( . dll), or W32/Apology-B viruses . This behavior could also occur if the Wsock32 . dll file on your computer is damaged or missing . Have you done an on-line scan? If it is a virus it could easily have knobbled your antivirus software as well . |

| 151581 | 2003-06-10 23:14:00 | I earlier tried virus checks - with NAV and online with Trend - as well as reloads of Wsock32 . dll but none of these gave a fix . The error message blames explorer for the problem so - to me - a reload of explorer seems "logical" . ??? Can explorer . exe be "sfc" reloaded? If so what are the consequences of such reload or rewrite - such as losing my mail filter settings, address book, favourites etc? I ask about these because of explorer seemingly to be related to IE6 and thus OE6 . I know how to save the Address book and favourites but I don't know how to save the mail filter criteria that I have painstakingly put together . Hence I also ask: Can my IE6 mail filter settings be saved? Thanks Godfather for your past comments and thanks to you and any others for further suggestions . |
