We have a population just under 4Mill so it does not look like we will ever get a mag for Linux under your figures but we have a very good PCWorld so I am sorry but your figures just don't stack up.

That's why I suggested C, C++, php, and some of the others programs linux uses, it could be called "Linux & technogly" that covers anything that does not come under "PC World"

Mind you you could start the ball rolling with a few pages in NZ PC world each month set aside to linux, and see how that takes off.

Looked in a PC World recently ;)
There is the new linux section by Vikk Oliver (sp?) and Geoff Palmer is now doing a section on living without Windows as well .

151692 2003-06-12 11:27:00 Look, folks, the title "PC World" does not at all imply it is only for users of Microsoft.

The term "PC" evolved into including more than just the mainstream product a long time ago. Why do you think it is that PC World and many other computing magazines long ago included information and articles on operating systems other than Microsoft Windows?

Take for example, Australian PC Authority (also known as PC Authority). In their 'Real World Computing' section, articles about Linux have been present for as long as I've been getting the magazine (around about the turn of the millenium).

I say well done to PC World for doing a "other OS" style article, but stop raving on about getting a "Linux World" magazine.

Graham did say that the user base does not currently warrant creating a whole new magazine (have you considered about the price of making it, publishing it, shipping it, writing articles, etc?).

As for a handy little book along the lines of "new to Linux"... I bought one of those, and it came with Red Hat 7.2 on it. I'll try and find it, and tell you the publisher - though I'm not sure where it was bought. From memory, it had things like the history of Linux, and other general getting started issues - such as connecting to the internet, networking, console commands...
