2003-06-10 12:30:00 | On Outlook XP I had an Orcon.net.nz account. However I could only recieve messages not send them because I had to be logged on to the webmail site (which sux). So I got my dad to get me one under his valuenet account (y'know, 5 free email accounts.) But it does the same thing. Now I know they have Webmail on valuenet, and I did a test account setting and all the details are correct and all went fine. I got the test message. But when I went to send emails to people, i got the same "Message Undeliverable" and "Relaying denied. Proper authentication required." Whatsup with that. My dads works, why doesn't mine. Am I overlooking an advanced setting?

There has been a copy of threads about this..... So you will have to put in quicksilver SMTP address which is: smtp.qsi.net.nz Hope this helps |

2003-06-11 01:21:00 | also In outlook XP there is a setting which allows youre to login to the SMTP server before reviving mail, I am not too sure where in Outlook XP you can access it. | stu140103 (137) | |
2003-06-11 06:33:00 | Sorry my friend unless you want to do alot of network/router tomfoolery you have to be logged onto the same ISP as the mail account your using (For most ISP's nowadays). But try putting your SMTP server to oricon's one, in theory the outgoing mail dosent really matter which server it comes from as long as the FROM: header says the address you want (set up in outlook express). But then they might be blocking this as it can be used for spam :( Worth a crack Cheers Patryn

2003-06-11 06:50:00 | Be aware that you cannot send emails via Orcon unless you check your orcon emails first. So it's pointless checking your Orcon emails in Outlook and then typing up a message and sending it 5 minutes later as your initial session would've disconnected. Therefore, type up your message and then click Send and Recieve and that should send your message... Orcon recently introduced this policy to stop spammers abusing their network which is why you get "Proper Authentication Required" - your ISP isn't stopping you from connecting to Orcon - Orcon's Mail Servers are CyberChuck

2003-06-12 05:55:00 | Hmmm must of hit some sort of time when the security wasn't on. Yes i did receive the e-mail i sent properly so i was going to scite off :D but then i thought to test it again and now it blathers off about routing denied ..... authentication required. Hmm curious i want to look into this myself now. I just realised hes with quick silver, so he should be able to use that SMTP :D here was me thinking he's with orcon *slaps self*
