2003-06-12 02:22:00 | Been using Mailwasher last few weeks and deleting and bouncing lots of spam. Last couple of days been getting a panel come up with the following message: Failure to bounce message so and so. Failed to resolve remote MX server. Socket error so and so. Connection reset by peer. No such host. Ensure that SMPT server is correct." Anybody know what all this is about ?

2003-06-12 04:46:00 | Q. Why do I get the error message Error sending bounce messages for account yourname, SMTP host SMTP.yourisp.prefix refused access A. This is because your dial up provider does not allow relaying (sending an email from one provider via another provider). To get around this problem, make the SMTP settings for all your accounts to be the same as your dial up prov Ok Babe thats the answer I get from the Mailwasher FAQ. Now can anybody put this into language a fuddy old dimwit like me can understand. If I go into accounts with my server I have one account in mailwasher which is my pop3 account with xtra. If I try to add another account like smtp it tells me, that is Mailwasher tells me I can only have one account unless I get Mailwasher pro. Any further elucidation before I get in touch with Nick would be appreciated. Cheers

2003-06-12 04:53:00 | heaton, It can also mean that the server address of the email you are trying to bounce has been spoofed - that is it is not a real mail server address. Spammers try all sorts of tricks to keep the informationof their real identity 'hidden'. Cheers, Babe.

So how do you reply to the spam if you want to grow your wotnot another 6inches, or you want some of that natural viagra that is ten times cheaper than from a legit Doctor? If the address is wrong, where does my email go to? |

2003-06-12 09:25:00 | This subject has been raised several times lately, and all you are doing by bouncing the spam is eating up precious internet bandwidth. (It probably makes you feel better to bounce it, but its really much better to delete it) | godfather (25) | |
