2003-06-11 21:06:00 | Sure thing, but there's a few things first. Obviously RAM is the easiest part to upgrade, and probably the most bang-for buck, but you have to be careful of a few things. SD-RAM or DDR.. or if your PC's old enough, EDO.. Perhaps you run a P4 and you use RamBus? First you need to figure out what type of RAM your PC uses and will take in an upgrade. Secondly, you'll need to make sure its compatible with your existing RAM if possible... And you'll want to make sure you havent used all the free slots on your motherboard. All that provided, I can highly recommend QMB.co.nz with the best pricing around. Fast, friendly, and very competitive price. Just make sure you get the right type ;-) Cheers Chill.

2003-06-11 21:07:00 | Try www.qmb.co.nz Great prices, lousy customer service (Oriental owners thinking they are still in China). Rev Species 116

2003-06-12 01:02:00 | A bit of a racist comment rev, it's not needed here. (I am a NZ Maori/European who thinks it's inappropriate to post personal opinions on race of any kind) If it wasn't for Asias' contribution to technology we wouldn't be where we are now, especially the low price in RAM these days.

2003-06-12 01:08:00 | I'm sorry you feel that way kame. As a matter of fact, I have a Chinese partner. In regard to QMB, it was not a racist slur, but a statement of fact. They were rude when I called them on the telephone, and didn't speak very good english at all. My partner told me that this was the 'common thinking' in China (rude attitude in business, and after the money. Corruption corruption corruption). This I know. It is up to you whether you see this as a racial comment - I do not, and neither does my partner. Rev Species 116

2003-06-12 01:45:00 | Yes, there are Asian employee's, however I have been served by people of all nationalities from QMB, and found them all very pleasant :-) | Chilling_Silently (228) | |
2003-06-12 02:42:00 | I talked to qmb on the phone a number of times(although this was because they ignored 7 e-mails in a row)...anyway,they were very easy to deal with, offered to take back the faulty ram and replace it no questions asked,....and the guy who answered the phone certainly didnt sound asian. I was then put through to the guy in charge of there site and processing there web orders, now he was definitly asian,....he answered my questions on the status of my current order and thanked me for my business.... Cant say i can complain,i considered it good service.

2003-06-12 03:25:00 | Yeah.. I spoke to the Kiwi guy when I went in there in person.. He knew the stock very well, and when I went to buy a motherboard for a friend, he pointed out several things that might be of use to me, in the end saving me $20 and getting me a more suitable motherboard! They can be slow to respond to emails.. sometimes they took half a day, but for me they always went through. And when I bought a mobo and CPU, they even installed the CPU and Heat-Sink in the shop for me! Now that's customer service going the extra mile :-)

2003-06-12 05:30:00 | Hi ST If you have 256 MB of RAM already, an extra 256 will only offer a marginal increase in speed unless you do some pretty RAM intensive work. To get better advice, post your CPU & Motherboard types, plus details of the type of programs you run and where you are looking to make improvements. You might save some money or make some gains, but at the moment everybody is just guessing, including you. Cheers Billy 8-{)
