| 151880 | 2003-06-11 13:57:00 | I have just installed Mandrake 9.0 on my 3rd machine in my network where it is happily co-existing with Win98SE as a dual boot machine. I am trying to get the Mandrake Linux O/S partition to recognise/see the other 2 comps on my system (running XP Pro & Win98se) to enable internet access (in particular) etc. I have attempted to manually set up the network settings which Mandrake control centre appears to have taken alright but still can't access the web! Any advice? |

I would suggest that as you have three machines you use TWO of them for the REAL work and use the THIRD for playing with Mandrake. Given what you have said I have no idea what hardware you have in the THIRD computer, NIC, Modems, ADSL, Routers or even what the length of network cable you have. For all I know you are trying to get at the Internet over 800 meters of cable linked next door to the other farm. The reason for this post is that I want to know and may help. If nothing else it will prompt answers from you that will help others answer. |

In Linux RedHat you have to put the IP Addresses of the DNS Servers - not the names of them. This took me a while to figure out when I first installed Linux CyberChuck |
