| 151826 | 2003-06-11 08:37:00 | I have two system one is dialed to the internet and the other is running a web server. how can i let internet users have access to the web server?? I know to IP of the system that is dialed in but how do i set up port fowarding to the second systerm with the webserver? thanks for the help |

| 151827 | 2003-06-11 08:48:00 | Depends on a number of things really: What OS is the Gateway running? Does the second PC have a Static IP? Lets roll with this: You've gone to no-ip.com to keep life simple, and got an account there so you can be accessed from robsonde.no-ip.com and then you can point a dot.tk domain or whatever to that addy... Next, your Gateway PC is running WinXP You're going to open up the properties for the Dial-Up connection and there's a Tab on there somewhere... Have a look around, and you can enable 'hosting of ***' or something similar, I know because Ive got my Gateway forwarding port 80 and 21 (http and ftp) to my Linux box, with an IP of 192.168.0.2 (Needs to be static). From there, you should be peachy :-) Lemme know how you get on Cheers Chill. |

| 151830 | 2003-06-11 08:58:00 | sorry my fault. system 1: windows XP home inside ip 192.168.17.1 outside ip set by dial up. running ICS system 2: sun OS / unix inside ip 192.168.17.42 running apache do i need a domain name?? cant I just use the IP for testing?? note I only need this to work for a few hours this evening :-) |

| 151833 | 2003-06-11 09:06:00 | Well then, you should be sweet, using what I said before about XP's Dial-Up connection Properties.. It'll forward all requests throught UDP I think or whatever to the specified PC... You dont need a domain, an IP will do fine :-) No-IP is a Dynamic DNS service, free, and basically each time you connect your IP is updated at a remote server, and so people can connect to robsonde.no-ip.com rather than finding out your IP each time.. I host my FTP from a no-ip.com account and it works great! Soo... Change the settings in the Dial-Up connection, put a tick in the one box for http serving, then enter the IP address of the nix PC and you should be peachy! Might needa enable it in the firewall if you've got it on.. Turn it off as a starter to make sure it works.. Then enable it again later :-) Cheers Chill. |

| 151834 | 2003-06-11 11:35:00 | cant make it work! have tryed every thing I can think of . . . . . the system on the internet times out . have no firewall setup . have tryed diffrent isp and diffrent ports . what i have done is set up ICS on the windows box . next i go in to the properties of the dial up accound and click on advanced tab and then settings and the bottom of the window . in this window i tick the http and go in to "edit" I have put the IP of the unix box in this place . the port nmbers a grayed out but set to 80 . rebooted to make the setting take affect . wont work . |

| 151835 | 2003-06-11 12:08:00 | I have still not made it work but I have discovered something.... using grc.com I did a port scan with out the port fowarding set up. http port was reported as "closed". when I set up port fowarding to the unix box I did another scan and got http port was reported as "stelth" note: I can http into the unix box from the windows box no problem. I DONT have a firewall of any type. |
