152031 2003-06-13 04:59:00 There is this registry hack that replaces a missing XP recycle bin icon to the desktop that you might want to try. Please back up your registry first - instructions can be found under FAQ #6 accessed from the FAQ button on the top right of this page.

RecycleBin.reg (www2.whidbey.com) - This program will replace a missing recycle bin icon on the desktop of a Windows XP system.
If you left click on the RecycleBin.reg link a page will open up displaying the contents of the registry script. To save it, right click on the link and select "save target as" and save to your desktop. Double click on the reg file to run it. 		Jen C (20)

but if the solution posted by her doesn't do the trick then try the following
(NOTE backup your registry first)...

Using Notepad create a text file and call it RECYCLE.REG.
Copy the text (Select/Copy/Paste) highlighted below (EXACTLY) to the file named earlier (RECYCLE.REG) and save it.
Then double-click the file (RECYCLE.REG) to import it into the registry.
You must refresh the desktop in order to see the change(s)
