152377 2003-06-13 20:19:00 Due to the inconclusive argument on CRT emissions,I have covered my monitor with lead,my readings are all negative now,so for those who have any concern this is a possible answer, will let you know how to read monitor when problem resolved.;) Thomas (1820)
152378 2003-06-13 23:53:00 I'll probably get flamed for this but what the heck! The image I'm posting is meant to be viewed as being humorous and light hearted.

The monitor is absolutely radiation safe.

152381 2003-06-14 02:37:00 Wow, is this a silly thread or what? :D

Anyway, if you're really worried (:p), get an LCD. They use less power, too. And weigh less. And can have decent speakers included, wonderful controls, and USB bays.

152382 2003-06-14 04:28:00 I would never buy LCD anything after owning a LCD watch when they first came out years ago Southern_Man (3944)
152383 2003-06-14 09:21:00 Then you have two other good options for a computer "screen" - plasma or projector :p

Plasma, while quite good (and bloody expensive per square inch), "fades" after five years. LCDs can suffer from dead pixel syndrome. CRTs have high radiation emissions (though lower these days, than, say, 10 years ago), so I guess a spare white wall and a good quality projector would be the best bet... :D:D

152384 2003-06-14 11:32:00 Go to the supermarket and get some "Back terror jam" spread some on the monitor screen and some on the wall, and see if the one on the monitor dies and the one on the wall lives. if they grow at the same rate, (not sure of the formula, maybe someone else knose) you know the monitor is a safe CRT, E.ric (351)
152385 2003-06-14 19:57:00 Thanks for your input E.ric,I know you were normal b4 you started working on CRT's,will Watties 'Black Terror" jam be ok;) Thomas (1820)

Yes you might have to ask someone if you can not find it at first, don't worry if they give you a strange look, I get it all the time. ?:|
