152309 2003-06-13 09:08:00 I have my photo albums on CD's and because of the inconvenience of viewing with others in front of the PC monitor I would like to be able to view them on the TV monitor. If I buy a DVD player for this purpose do I have to run it like my audio CD player through my audio system amp? I ask this because my stereo is in a different room to the TV. Or do you just connect your DVD player directly to your TV like a video recorder? If so, do you have to disconnect your VCR and use the same connection for the DVD player or is there another jack that serves this purpose ? { It's a reasonably modern TV but the manual doesn't give much guidance}Thanks willbry willbry (1555)

You can plug your DVD straight into your tv if your tv has RCA input - it doesn't use the regular tv aerial type cable that the VCR would use.

152311 2003-06-13 09:17:00 The DVD player will connect to either an "s-video" and audio input(s) or to Video In and Audio In on your TV . Very much like a VCR can connect, however many VCRs are connected via the aerial, which is slightly inferior but works OK .

DVDs normally do not have an aerial connection and must connect directly to the AV or S Video sockets on the TV .

From this distance we do not know how your VCR is connected, (if it used Video In and Audio In or just connects via the aerial) however many TVs have multiple AV inputs (Video In and Audio In) so you may have several to choose from .

The TV will handle the sound from the DVD OK you may not quite get the same effect as a good stereo but it will be quite useable .

Check on your TV remote for an AV button, keep pressing it and see how many AV inputs you have . My sets here have 3 (AV1 AV2 AV3) with one of these being front mounted and two at the back of the set .
