152529 2003-06-14 13:51:00 I think he is looking for LCD alpha-numeric displays, not monitors.

The 2*16 refers to 2 lines of 16 characters.

The market is a bit slim in this area in NZ (no demand), you may need to expand your search to Australia, try using Google.

152530 2003-06-14 20:49:00 I'd have a look at PMB (www.pmb.co.nz) I know people that have purchased LCDs off them before. -=JM=- (16)
152531 2003-06-15 03:33:00 I've obtained a few by getting (office class) electronic typewriters, pulling the LCD , and tossing the rest. Criminal really ... the typewriters cost k$ new
. :D Canon ones have a standard 1x20 module.

The new suplies in NZ seem to be either 2x40 or 4x20, maximum (this is because of the size of the RAM on the usual controller chip on the modules). And I don't like the cost.

Oatley (http://www.oatleyelectronics.com/) might be a good place to try. They ar in Australia, advertise in Silicon Chip, and their prices look pretty good.

I might go get one from Oatley's when i'm in Australia in the holidays. They are pretty expensive in NZ, but hey most stuff is ;)
