| 1339697 | 2013-05-04 20:18:00 | Hello, I am trying Smart Security 6 and it is set as "Learning Mode" under HIPS Filtering Mode. I never seem to get any warning boxes on this setting, but if I change it to "Interactive mode" I get a pop up box to check all the time (I know this is usual under this mode). What I really am wanting to ask, is "Interactive Mode" better (safer) than "Learning Mode"? Thanks for any advice. |

It can be a pain when first selected as you have to tell it to always allow the application you open. But once you tell it always allow (or not allow) and tick remember, it wont bother you again unless theres some sort of change. For example if Firefox does an update it will warn you a FF wants to change your setting/program, then you can either allow or disallow. Sometimes its quite interesting just to see how much a program wants internet access, as some programs may have several parts trying to get internet access. Once setup, it wont pop up messages till something changes. One disadvantage in learning mode is sometimes it will stop legit programs or applications and you may wonder why something isn't working - in Interactive Mode you will have been asked. |
