1339690 2013-05-04 10:02:00 Tried both Memtest86 v4 and 3.2 on this PC but they just won't run.

When I restarts the PC, (with Memtest in the CD drive) I could see that Memtest is loading for < a second, the computer then restarts, it just goes in a loopl.

Those Memtest boot CDs are known to be good as it works in other computers.

Any suggestions?

1339691 2013-05-04 10:14:00 Could be a possible Drive problem , I got a couple of old IDE DVD drives that simply don't like any type of bootable CD/DVD unless its a commercial one, self burnt CD/DVD's just wont boot for some reason-- Have you got another one you can plug I to see if memtest runs from ? wainuitech (129)
1339692 2013-05-04 10:56:00 Looks to me that it does boot up but exits the program almost immediately. bk T (215)

I 2nd that, idk what causes it but back in the day I had a tower that refused to boot from win98/98SE ISO copies, it only booted from original media. Same went for any other bootable media (although I think some boot CD's worked) Solution was to boot a win98 repair floppy and tell it to run setup.exe manually :D

Try booting from a USB? Also, on the off chance you have more than one CD drive, disconnect one, on that note, just to be extra paranoid sure try disconnecting the HDD + any other peripherals not needed to run memtest.

Re reading the OP it would seem that wainui's problem might not be the case. Seems memtest boots ok but runs into some sort of error. Try unplugging everything but RAM and CD drive.

4 Error Guy,
I could see that Memtest is loading for < a second, the computer then restarts, it just goes in a loop That's what one of the drives does, the other loads to a few lines of Memtest, then simply wont go any further, as if it stops reading the CD.

May or may not be the case here. Could also be faulty RAM causing it.

1339696 2013-05-04 20:48:00 I've had memtest BSOD on me after a couple of seconds. This was a RAM problem. Try one stick at a time (presuming more than one!)? linw (53)
