2012-12-05 18:32:00 | Welp, still looking for a sysadmin :P It's predominantly a desktop support role, but you'd be expected to at least be able to learn how to progress to some intermediate-level server and junior-level database support. | inphinity (7274) | |

2012-12-06 00:48:00 | I need to follow up with stupid winz. I think they are just meeting their own performance quotas. If I destested an agency this much I would give them a wide berth and take the first job that came my way (better money than the benefit) rather than take teir pittance and feel better about myself. I then signed up after that cos I have paid my taxes before and I am entitled. Got the weekly part but not the other bits cos I had (asset) savings but little interest (income) from the 5% or whatever .. Maybe it isn't about entitlement any longer but responsibilities. But I understand how people get gobsmacked at finding that stupid winz ain't a bank...

Soon I won't be on the system (when the system updates). It's not worth the bother. I have been on the former top tax bracket before, I am willing to do admin or be a photocopyist for near minimum wage (or have it taken off me) but the people there don't have any commonsense. First they read my CV and say that they cannot assist me in job search. Then I get a call about a job that I need to cold call people (by working at home) and sell crap. From all the people on their system they don't seem to look at people's background. Not that I was one, but if one was a IT/Marketing Manager they could be asked to door knock or be a cleaner or else you lose it. If they want to limit it, they could just follow something like the American system. Those who have worked before for x time can claim up to 3 months at a time then you are on your own. |

2012-12-06 22:13:00 | A fairer system IMO: Actually look at people's background . If they are unskilled maybe put them into supermarket or petrol station jobs . If they are more skilled in the office, maybe into lower paid admin or reception jobs with a small-med company ie - the local motel or mass data entrying . At least it is something remotely relevant . If their goal is to improve the govt's bank balance . They could just give it to those in need . If they been on it for x period already, and they have multiple properties or houses or bank balances they need sell them off and use it before they can get more . And for those v long termers to sell their primary residence if it makes economic sense and rent .

2012-12-06 22:27:00 | When you're on the benefit drawing on taxpayer's money ( a pittance one must admit ) you are asking for a financial help while looking for a suitable occupation . Suitable to a tax payer is what you can physically and intellectually do . Certainly you can strive for your dream job but in the meantime you need to take what you get . Petrol station attendant or mcdonalds' jobs pay more than the benefit to start . It is ironic to come into social venues like this one and mouth out at them bludgers on tax payers' money not wanting to take available jobs and so on, and then behave in exactly same way . . . we can't win . Let's be a little more consistent with our ethics . Yes, I concur with you it is about getting the expenditure down Nomad, so that those funds can be used to better other facets of society such as health and education . Makes sense .

2012-12-07 03:18:00 | In terms of ethics. I've always been a PAYE. Not just the MNCs but self employers who have the ability to restructure their tax affairs. The lack of capital gains tax. Family trusts and the list goes on .. | Nomad (952) | |
