| 1314804 | 2012-11-26 21:26:00 | Those are 'swear words', as non of the lately proposed stations/dams would've been able to be build without huge opposition. Dead right. :thumbs: Huge Opposition, displaying Huge Ignorance and Huge Stupidity. The Politicians will stoop to any level to get their vote, and thus keep their own position in Parliament, and we wind up where we are now. :angry |

| 1314805 | 2012-11-26 21:37:00 | I've paid extra for sustainable energy before 13c/kWH on top of the usual cost - so I also put my money where my mouth is. Eh. Maybe you would be good enough Zara to explain what Energy is more Sustainable and indeed cost effective than Hydro? The only reason other Countries use alternatives is they don't have either the Water or the Fall. However, New Zealand is blessed and there is no need to look any further. So why are we? :confused: |

| 1314806 | 2012-11-26 21:39:00 | FWIW, B.M., the sustainable energy I paid extra for was Hydro 80%/solar 20%, which is to say, I'm not sure what your question is? | Zara Baxter (16260) | ||

Especially the cost of disposing of the nuclear waste, decommissioning the power stations which seems to cost billions and takes years. How will poor countries like Bulgaria afford that. |

One Man's Mystery Leads to a Backlash Against Natural Gas Drilling (Kindle Single)" by Lustgarten, Abrahm, I am sh1**ing myself in fear that our stupid politicians will follow the god dammed ridiculous Yanks :( :( | Zippity (58) | ||

| 1314810 | 2012-11-26 22:12:00 | No one has mentioned that Taranaki has been 'fracking' for at least 15 years +. Or have i missed it. ? It has been mentioned quite a bit over time in the press. The odd frack here and there probably wont cause much of a problem, but in the US it's on an enormous frackin scale. and probably that's why significant problems are arising. I believe water under pressure has been forced down wells into near exhausted fields to bring up oil since way back without problems either. ...and then there is fracking and fracking, In the US it's methane they're after, and as the viscosity is thousands of times smaller than crude, or even light crude as in NZ, then it can be imagined it could flow and seep into all sorts of places, water courses and water supplies, leak into homes etc, so much more easily. |
