1339859 2013-05-10 04:20:00 How can installing an antivirus and sticking to one web browser affect warranty?:confused::confused:

You ought to know what Dealers are like, even good ones! In the early stages of warranty it is not wise to fiddle .

If anything goes wrong, they look first at what has been changed by the user!

One might also say she is preparing for a PhD, so can probably install, or be told how to install, two programs onto a computer ;)

She is more than smart enough, but not on computers! I have always looked after that myself, so she is a competent user of computers, but not technically aware, just as some people can drive a car well, but don't even know how to put air in the tires, check the oil or radiator levels, or fill the washer bottle . In many cases, they can't drive a manual, which is hardly rocket science, just one more pedal and a different sort of gear change .

Cheers

It could how she the user use the internet getting the viruses etc... even if you have a software that warns you maybe some people ignore the warning  also the the risks in connecting to a WIFI spot that is not official that is set up deliberately to act in a way. Fair point about the technical ability :) .
Still don't see the problem with installing an antivirus and a web browser though . . . . . so she's not going to be installing anything until the warranty runs out? Not even M$ word?
