I guess the jump up from a Teir 1 Helpdesk to something like though would really require somebody who is actually *keen* on PCs and things in general, rather than somebody who's simply doing it "for a career", as some of those things have little natural progression from a Helpdesk role. | Chilling_Silence (9) | ||

Correct, some never have deviated from helpdesk, have no passion for the job or learning so will live out their IT life in helpdesk. You ask them a simple network question like "What device to I need to 192.168.1.1 talk to 10.1.1.1" and they have no idea, or even have you ever built a windows box....nope. That's after you have weeded out the barista that are after a change of job or what ever. |
