| 1339847 | 2013-05-06 05:22:00 | Anyone use Wordpress? A club I belong to has a simple Wordpress site which all works fine EXCEPT that there is a page that is password protected. Access to this page via the password is fine with several browsers, but won't work with IE 8, 9, or 10. Page just refreshes. And, no, it is even worse in 'compatibility mode'. I can see problems like this reported years ago but surely there has been time to fix this?? Seems perverse to rule out all the IE users. I have not used WP - our site has been created by our secty. Grateful if an expert here can help. |

| 1339848 | 2013-05-09 09:51:00 | Seems a bit incestuous answering your own question but, just to close the loop, the problem lay with cookie control. FF, for example, seems to have only 3rd party cookies on or off and it defaults to allowing 3rd party cookies so that worked fine. IE, however, has a much more configurable cookie control setup. Its default in the Privacy setting is to set the slider at Medium which stops the creation of the needed cookie. Dropping the slider to Low, gets the password validation working. Additional info:- this problem only occurs if you use a new URL for your website as opposed to using the one with wordpress appended to it. All probably useless info but, who knows, someone googling might find it useful. |
