152831 2003-06-16 03:07:00 I am keen to get ADSL internet access but Im confused about the costs-I know you have to pay telecom, plus your ISP but I dont understand the data costs-how much do many of you actually end up paying per month? charmed (1903)
152832 2003-06-16 04:07:00 Telecom charge $29.95 for ADSL access (Jetstream Starter) irrespective of which ISP you use.

Xtra charge $34.95 as the ISP, for their part of Jetstream Starter. Other ISP charges may differ slightly.

Total $64.90, if using Xtra.

That cost (the Xtra portion) is for up to 5 GB of international data per month, and unlimited national data. Other ISP's charges will differ a bit as will the data allowance.

The above assumes you already have a normal phone line installed.
If you want Telecom to install ADSL filter etc, then thats a on-off extra cost.

Lets say you’re on my ISP Quicksilver (& you are getting Jet Stream Starter) & you go over the 10 GB international traffic cap then you You only pay 10c per MB excess international traffic .

But if you Do Not Go over the 10 GB international traffic cap
Then you just pay $64 . 90
that is the Total Monthly Cost excluding Telephone rental

Hope this has answered the question :)

& I hope I have not confused you any more :)

If you have any more question just ask

152834 2003-06-16 05:29:00 And ahh don't go with Xtra. 5gig limit is nothing, and you can get a way better deal elsewhere. Go here (dr-mission-series.7p.com) for a little help in deciding which ISP you might want to choose. PoWa (203)
152835 2003-06-16 05:31:00 Full speed adsl costs me $89.00 per month including costs from both Xtra and Telecom, for 1GB traffic, and 18c per meg over that. I usually use 300 - 600 megs per month, unless I'm doing a lot of online gaming, which will take me up to about 1200 - 1400 megs. Normally I guess I use the Internet somewhat more than average (apart from those avid P2P downloaders - the scourge of broadband) because I'm always uploading stuff to customers' websites. PoWa: Can you add Quicksilver to your list :)

152837 2003-06-16 10:54:00 GF your price of $69.95 plus the regular telecom phone line is $107.95 for the basic with excess costs on top. Is it likely that the
package cost
will drop to make it affordable to more people??? Poppa John

I could be wrong but I think that the price is $69 . 95 full stop . Because you can use your telephone at the same time as being online with Jetstream you do not need to have a second telephone line unless you wish to have two telephones on two separate lines .

You can use the telephone line at the same time as Jetstream .

The $64 . 90 only covers the ISP connection fee and Telecoms Jetstarter adsl service fee, and not the additional cost of a single regular phone line .

$64 . 90 + Telecom homeline fee .
