I am running the Word and Excel components of my Office 97 disc on a Windows 2000 platform. Periodically these apps will be very slow to load - 1 minute say. While the app grinds away, nothing else will respond and the task manager shows little or no activity. The app won't appear in Task Manager untill the app eventually opens. Once open it is impossibly slow to use. The only solution is to reboot after which the apps will once again run fine. I have this same setup on another PC which is not running a virus programe - same problem. My PC is running Nortons Antivirus 2000.
