153734 2003-06-20 02:20:00 Im still a bit of an HTML n00b, and am just wanting a quick bit of help with <table>'s

<table>
<tr>
<td>Phone: </td>
<td>(Auckland 09) 834 ****</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td>Fax:</td>
<td>(Auckland 09) 834 ****</td>
</tr>
</table>

Basically I wanna add a lil bit of a space between the two, but I am un-sure how to?

Cheers

153735 2003-06-20 02:30:00 you could add "cellpadding" or "cellspacing" to the table i.e.

<table cellpadding="2">

or you could add an empty extra column in, i.e.

<table>
<tr>
<td>Phone: </td>
<td>&amp;nbsp; </td>
<td>(Auckland 09) 834 **** </td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td>Fax: </td>
<td>&amp;nbsp; </td>
<td>(Auckland 09) 834 **** </td>
</tr>
</table>

"&amp;nbsp;" = nonbreaking space

153736 2003-06-20 02:35:00 Thanks Mary,

Ive used:
<tr>
<td>Phone: </td>
<td> </td>
<td>(Auckland 09) 834 **** </td>
</tr>
for my contacts page and it seems to have the desired results, Cellpadding didnt do what I was hoping for!

Thanks!

153737 2003-06-20 02:35:00 Lots of different things you can do, as Mary has said. You could also try the height and width attributes, eg

<td width="100" height= "50">your text</td>

Remember that will affect all other cells in a row if the first cell has those attributes but in this case it will not matter.

Experiment. ;-)

153738 2003-06-20 02:36:00 LOL.. Its included those nbsp's into the HTML ;-) Chilling_Silently (228)
153739 2003-06-20 02:37:00 Meh! Just use the height attribute in this case, not width. :8} Susan B (19)
153740 2003-06-20 02:37:00 Thanks Susan, I'll give that a try too, seems a little bit too much typing several nbsp's ;-)

Ive got the space so I guess I can just play with other options now :-)

Cheers

153741 2003-06-20 02:41:00 susan. it depends a bit on what spec hes useing as tables don't aways have a height attribrute. tweak'e (174)
153742 2003-06-20 02:43:00 The <td width=""> is just what Im after.. much better control!
