153714 2003-06-20 00:46:00 I just made a scan of my PC with JV PowerTool and under Installed Software, I found the following items which I don't really know what they are and I never installed any of them. Here are the list details:

Author Software
Lake DolbyHph
Lake LakeControl
PocketSoft RTPatch
Schlumberger SmartCards And Terminal
MicroQuill SmartHeap
FullCircle TalkBack
Gemplus Cryptography
ACEComputer S'ware ActiveACE
Wise Solution Wise Installation

Any idea what they are and is it safe to remove them?

Cheers

153715 2003-06-20 01:30:00 They are all drivers or add-ins, and listed on Google.

You will be the only person that can determine if they should be removed, as only you know what softeware you have loaded.

Search Google for each item, and determine if it belongs to something you still have and need, or if you no longer need it.

For instance the Lake items probably belong to DVD decoding software.
The Schlumberger Smart Card is possibly a motherboard driver.

FullCircle Talkback may be tied up with a browser installation.

etc etc

153716 2003-06-20 02:27:00 Plus, Wise Installarion does the same sort of job as Installshield, ie, setup, install and remove programs. If its in the temp folder you can probably whack it.

153717 2003-06-20 03:49:00 Unless you know exactly, leave it. Utilise the Tools-registry cleaner instead and everything it lists with green dots can safely be deleted. What you are looking at is every program listed in the registry. It lists kaspersky labs, which is actually a part of some antivirus programs like AVG. So only utilise the list when you KNOW definitely that you want to remove something. Pheonix (280)
