| 153485 | 2003-06-19 01:38:00 | hi has anyone else had trouble with pc company ? we have had several problems from- floppy disk drive not working..and sometimes still doesnt with new formatted disks in msword. BSOD with some strange error saying'' IRQ > somthing''.. -seems to have dissapeared after SP1 which makes it load 1.5minutes slower.. or instant restart upon clicking the net icon to go online.. -stil happens on occasion ,and i lost unsaved work cos i thought''its safe,i can click on the net icon and be fine!'' haa'h hah.. CDrom replaced for no reason while being repaired ,and then no drivers installed ,and when fixed, all they did was install new version of nero EXPRESS which has less options than NERO 5.5,and the original PRIMO CD plus program that came with the pc DOESNT recognise the drive. was there anything else? i cant remember.. Mboard was replaced, etcc.. and a ' key which doesnt actually appear less u press it twice or type '(any other key after it) which is strange. at the moment afer 18months of owning it,the wrinkles seem to be ironed! :-S 1,6ghz athlon xp + 256mb DDR 40gb sb live value. external modem which my mate reckons are terrible(hes a mate not a technician tho :P) |

Try updating Primo CD Plus :-) The update may allow for your newer CD Drive > was there anything else? i cant remember.. > Mboard was replaced, etcc.. > > and a ' key which doesnt actually appear less u press > it twice or type '(any other key after it) which is > strange. That's a 'feature' of WinXP, try typing that then the a (Caps or not, I cant remember) and it may do a special 'A' character for you! ;-) |

| 153487 | 2003-06-19 03:24:00 | walkin thru farmers store the other day, they had 3 pc company computers on display, thought id be nosy and have a look in the device manager to get a better squizz on the hardware. On 2 of the machines the device manager was full of errors and unknown devices. Now,i realise that puters sold thru chainstores are junk but that took me by surprise... (Not as much as last boxing day which i spent fixing a computer bought from warehouse stationary,Good old chrissy present, provided with a failed install of winxp on it.....Dont these freakin shops have quality control?) |

| 153488 | 2003-06-19 03:29:00 | ive heard of alot of problems with pc company computers purchased 1-2yrs ago - failed motherboards, causing mouse/keyboards lockups as a result. however i have a pc company computer and it runs perfect, no troubles at all. just be thankful that they installed a cd burning program. the pc company nolonger installs burning programs on their computers, they expect you to have to use media player! nero express is still better than prassi. if you still want nero 5.5 than send me an email. |

If someone has a specific issue with a PC then talk about that, but no one can draw any conclusions about anything by looking at how a PC is set up in Farmers. The mere fact that you could look at device manager on those PCs means that 100 teenagers have been there before you and already stuffed the PC up. | Biggles (121) | ||

| 153491 | 2003-06-19 03:59:00 | hi there i have a pc company computer and i think its good, i have not had any major woes with it other than operator problems.....which seems to be getting better for all the time i spend on PF1! but i would recomend this make of computer and we are actually looking at getting a third puter and you never no it might be a PC comp one too. and no you cannot guarantee any computer comes with everything or none of the above mentioned things and it is just luck of the draw whether you get a good one or bad one, and that includes all makes, models and brands even just parts are not infalable, so yes it all comes down to buyer beware. but if we all thought like others on this forum we would not have a computer or a certain ISP in our presence so lets just live and let live OK? and better luck next time. no offense intended to any body in / on or around this forum or industry. beetle |

I used about 20 PC's from TPCC at ICE, and they were great! Some people simply need to buy a pc not build it thou ;-) |
