2003-06-19 13:39:00 | Hi Team Took the plunge and installed a Samsung SW-240 CDRW drive which came with Nero 5 & InCD 3.24.0. Drive works ok reading CDs but the InCD icon in the task bar says there isnt a recognised CDRW drive present. Unfortunately it is packet writing that I want to do at this time si I really want to get InCD working. I have done some extensive searching but can't find any compatibility lists, and I'm fresh out of ideas. I downloaded the InCD update 35240.exe but suspect from the numbers that it is no different to the copy I already have so I've put it to one side while I ask the experts. I see there is a beta of InCD Version 4 available too and I'll try that if anyone can tel me if it might work with the Samsung. Any advice on the quirks of InCD or any alternative I can download that might do the same job would be appreciated. There were no drivers needed for the SW-240 as I am running W2000 on this box so I assumed that it would just work with any burning software as well. Silly of me really :( Cheers Billy 8-{) :|

2003-06-19 13:57:00 | Hi Billy I have a SW 240 which also came with InCd . The two did not get along all that well and I supected InCD drivers . I was using 98 std at the time, use 2k now . I did manage to make a CDRW dick perform like a floppy or HDD . I never got it working to my satisfaction and put it in the, to re-visit tray . Can't precisely remember how I managed to get it going to the point I did either so, I can't give you much help . I'll have another go at it, as it seems to be a useful enough tool to have and, that might get the memory juices going . Cheers Murray P

2003-06-19 23:24:00 | Can't see anything there that says it speaks InCD Murray. Hopefully another user will come back with some experience. Alternatively, is there a free download anywhere of an alternative to InCD? Cheers Billy 8-{)

2003-06-20 00:55:00 | SW-240 supports the standards that InCd uses so should be able to do the job. Whether it actually does for (& me) is a different matter. Cheers Murray P

2003-06-20 01:10:00 | Are they downloads or do you buy them PoWa? Buying is not problem but I want to burn a CD fairly soon for business reasons. Cheers Billy 8-{)

I would recommend blah-blah-blah" or is that too wimpy for you? Nero and INCD have worked perfectly for me, and, I suspect, for many other PressF1 users. Cheers. |

2003-06-20 11:26:00 | Ok Shortstop, I will remember that, but I actually couldn't care less. I gave my opinion. Who do you think you are anyway? Judging by how much help you've given this forum (total of 30) posts, I don't think you can comment. Or do you use another alias and are "too wimpy" to post such snide comments under that? -> *Grabs Riot Shield* Back on topic, It just so happens that Easy Cd Creator is better, in terms of ease of use for someone new to cdwriting, has a nice, logical user interface, and still has the advanced options you would expect in a cdwriting program. You can go here (www.roxio.com) for more info. Not sure if there is a trial version or something. I use version 5, and that is really good :P
