| 153988 | 2003-06-21 05:18:00 | Yesterday I recieved an E-mail from "Danita Dupuy" telling me that BestBuy had received an order (US$775) using my personal credit card, order addressed to New York (!!!!) but they had not processed it due to delivery address query. They referred me to a fraud site to clarify. Before doing so, I froze my Credit card, then checked the given site, which no longer existed. I was concerned, as only 2 days prior I had used my card to purchase some software. I have since heard of one other person who received a similar E-mail. Anyone any idea of what's going on? It could also be that the email itself was fraudulent, and was sent for the purpose of getting you to click that link. Did it arrive i your pop3? And what was the email of this "Danita Dupuy". Im curious by nature |

| 153990 | 2003-06-21 08:33:00 | Hi kbcad A quick visit to www.bestbuy.com shows a message about an email hoax that has been doing the rounds. This is what the message said: In the late afternoon of Wednesday, June 18, Best Buy became aware of an unauthorized and deceptive e-mail to consumers titled "Fraud Alert." This e-mail, which requests personal information (i.e., social security and credit card numbers), claims to come from the BestBuy.com Fraud Department. This message is NOT from Best Buy. Best Buy is working with appropriate authorities to quickly resolve the situation. If you think you have replied to the fraudulent e-mail in any way, contact your bank and/or credit card companies immediately. No Best Buy systems have been compromised, and our online business is secure. The privacy of your personal information is of the utmost importance to Best Buy and information you provide us is always handled according to our Privacy Policy. If you have any questions, call Customer Care at 1-888-BEST BUY or visit our Online Pressroom. To find out more about identity theft or providing your information to anyone, visit the Federal Trade Commission's Identity Theft Web site at www.consumer.gov or call 1-877-ID THEFT. The author of that email "Danita Dupuy" or whoever their real name is, would of got your email address and sent you this hoax. Did they asked for your credit card details etc? As mentioned before, it is best practice to use a credit card with a smaller limit and always check out a sites security details and contact information (for physical addresses) before giving out credit card details. |

| 153992 | 2003-06-21 10:18:00 | Certainly looks like a bogus e-mail. That fraud web page does not exist, and no such page link is available from the site index, suggesting the site has never had that page Despite the suggestion on the site that the page is unavailable due to improvements underway, any page wrongly requested gives that same message on the site. |
