| 154382 | 2003-06-23 05:09:00 | Howdy clever people. I want to stocktake my hose vans and have Excel version 4. I need a final total (added) of 1005 cells in a column. I wonder if there is a quick way of making the formula to add them up other than typing in =F1+F2+ etc all the way to 1005. I have tried selecting the area by using the shift key and selecting the cells down to 1005 but it doesn't work. I hope this aint too much off topic. PS I have no intention of buying a later version of Excel unless I win first division lotto, but I have cut my chances horribly by not buying any tickets. Thanks tedheath |

| 154385 | 2003-06-23 08:09:00 | I hope I am not pushing it to much but can anyone (somebody lol) help me with another formula for my spreadsheet. What is technique to apply formula in the following stocktake page. I have 9000 lines (the part numbers) A1 A2 etc to A900 and want to add stock numbers in B1 to B900 and C1 to C900 into cell D1 to D900 how do I apply the formula right down the spreadsheet to THE 900 items. thanks again tedheath |

The simplest way is to highlight the cell with the formula to copy. Then extend the selection (either press F8 or hold down shift as you move the cursor) Edit/Fill when then insert your formula into each cell selected. |

If there are entries down to C900 the formula should copy down. If it stops just grab that little box and holding the left hand mouse button down drag down to D900 or where ever you want. |

I thought this stocktake spreadsheet was going to be a hard but nope its finished already. Stocktake is going to be real easy this year thanks to you. Also thanks Capt Jimbo for your help. tedheath |
