2003-06-24 09:52:00 | You may remember about a week ago I was so thankful for the suggestions here about getting mozilla.... WELL, that was all fine and dandy to start with but now I have major hassles! Mozilla was great for a couple of days, Then when I used IE again and it asked about being default, I said no since mozilla was doing the job - but ever since that moment I've not been able to use mozilla again, and I can't use some websites on IE. I cant long onto PF1 on that computer at all, and I have the same problems with logging in on some other sites too. Mozilla isn't in my list of programs to remove, so I can't even get rid of it for a fresh start. I can't just reload it over itself, it comes up with errors. When I try to open Mozilla now it opens up HEAPS of pages, but not usable pages - only a little title bar about an inch long that can't be maximized and has no actual 'page' to it. Is this all a bit weird or have I stumbled upon a common problem? Either way I hope someone can help because I'd like to be able to use my computer properly again! I've been sitting watching pF1 every day without being able to say a word! help..... *beg* btw - windows me, 320 ram, 800 cpu, IE5.5 and mozilla firebird... hope that's all u need to know. Bobble.

2003-06-24 10:06:00 | I'm new to Mozilla/Firebird myself but I suspect IE is not happy and has tried to get back as the default. Firebird is not installed in the traditional sense, if you simply created a folder and click the .exe or a shortcut to launch it you can just delete the folder and exe. If youve set up some additional profiles and options I'm not sure as I haven't gone too far down that track myself. Hang around awhile for someone more experienced than I to show up if your nervous. | 154759 | 2003-06-24 10:09:00 | What version of mozilla are you running? | rsnic (3780) | |
2003-06-24 10:25:00 | it appears to be mozilla firebird 0.6 | Bobble (3142) | |
2003-06-24 10:27:00 | Thats what I thought too, I'm picking MS are the culprits here, IE got grumpy and tried to take over.. don't think (so far) that mozilla is to blame. Thanks for the tip - wondered why I couldnt uninstall! That's rather a novel way to do things these days, but good on them, at least it isn't clogging lots of other things up and spreading out. Or is it?? looks innocent enough to me anyways. :) thanks for your help so far :)

2003-06-24 10:38:00 | Don't think explorer has anything to do with it. Did you download any of the extensions or themes for firebird. It is probably just a coincidence that it happened at the same time. Try disabling some of the plugins you got for firebird. | rsnic (3780) | |
2003-06-24 10:57:00 | Didn't download ANY extras, don't have plugins or anything. | Bobble (3142) | |
2003-06-24 11:04:00 | You should, they have some cool things like ad blocker. Extra menu's and stuff. I tried it for a while but it was a bit buggy for me, so I went back to the normal mozilla. | rsnic (3780) | |
2003-06-24 11:49:00 | I would just delete everything firebird related (keep your bookmarks though) and reinstall, preferably with a .exe installer version. I don't use firebird so i can't give exact paths but with mozilla, the two things to delete would be "c:\program files\mozilla.org" and "c:\windows\application data\mozilla".
