154549 2003-06-26 05:58:00 You are buying trouble. Good luck to you JJJJJ (528)
154550 2003-06-26 11:23:00 I must admit to not ever using a PC Co recovery CD but I have used plenty of others. The quote I gave actually came off the PC Co web site. The other thing is if the CD does not have the words "Recovery CD" don't bother sending it. mikebartnz (21)
154551 2003-06-26 11:25:00 It is not actually legal to do so now the way MS has things tied up. mikebartnz (21)
154552 2003-06-29 01:09:00 I have a PC CO machine and recovery disk, but a reinstall on a new drive fails at reboot, get "operating system error" I have changed bits of the machine since I bought it, like a new HD Drive, added network card, moved existing PCI cards around, extra DDR RAM and even replaced power supply. Is this reason for my start up error? Anyone with any ideas? sinndisco (4059)
154553 2003-06-29 01:40:00 Is the new drive recognised in BIOS. Have you set up the PC so it can actually boot from a CD? This can be done in BIOS - have a look through the options for Boot Order. Change it to:

1 Floppy
2 CDROM
3 Hard drive

Then try booting with the recovery disk.

154554 2003-06-29 05:41:00 Yes, BIOS does see the drive. Setup formats as NTFS and copies over the installation files, it didn't do that at first, but I removed the extra 512MB DDR RAM stick and the file copy process completed, it was the next stage after the reboot the error occurred. Still stumped sinndisco (4059)
154555 2003-06-29 05:45:00 The recovery CD has all the drivers for the PC that was sent out at manufacture. You should try and get it as close to the original hardware set up as you can - it is probably stuck on something else that has been added - this shouldn't be the power supply or hard drive Marty2001 (421)
154556 2003-06-29 05:59:00 Thanks Marty, that's what I've been thinking of as well. Will give that a go. I can remember the original config. Will post outcome next weekend.Ka kite sinndisco (4059)
154557 2003-06-29 14:52:00 Apparently the recovery cd is only usable on the hardrive that originally came with the computer. Thought it would throw you an error way before you installed it thougth. :( rsnic (3780)
154558 2003-06-29 21:54:00 Right, children. There is one simple rule at PressF1: Keep it friendly. Just because you don't agree with each other is no reason to act like a bunch of schoolkids. If you can't keep you conversations civil then don't say anything. If you think another user is being abusive, report it to me. Biggles (121)
