154607 2003-06-24 23:30:00 Orcon sounds really good, and I could probably use that extra 5gig ;) Thing is we've only just changed to Paradise, and my dad would probably start having a fit having to change email addresses again :P PoWa (203)
154608 2003-06-25 04:29:00 Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but i beleive that you can have an email account with Orcon even if you are not a member and like myself who uses them as my ISP, I get to keep the email address even if I leave to join another iSP.

If this is the case, it would probably be worth having an email account with them and then later change ISP when it suits.

No I do not work for them and am not affiliated with them at all, except that they are my ISP.

Could someone confirm this?

To what I know you have to be a (free or paid )member (sign up) to get a free e-mail address/ web space account.

Is that what you mean?????

My dog, myself, and one or two people i know have full pop3 email addresses with Orcon, even though at this point we all connect to the internet using established accounts with other ISPs.

154611 2003-06-25 21:31:00 Hi there Dave

That's correct - you do not need to be a paying customer in order to get an email address with us. Once you have signed up for your free email address, you get to keep it for life.

And PoWa - we have a great special on domain names at present - $32+GST per year. Your family could consider registering a domain name, eg. smith.co.nz and we could set up a mailbox for each of you so you can have john@smith.co.nz, sally@smith.co.nz. The great thing about having your own domain name, is that it doesn't matter which ISP you're with, as your email address will always stay the same.

Hope this helps
