| 155218 | 2003-06-30 07:13:00 | Even though people might work 8 hours, and not have much time off through-out the year, they probably have more leisure time in one year than high school students have - I'm always jealous of those people who come home from work after 5pm and have absolutely nothing to do, and can relax watchin tv, playing with pets, etc that sort of stuff, maybe doing a bit of house cleaning, cooking dinner etc; while us high school students are expected to do heaps of homework in our OWN time. Same for the weekend - its meant to be our 'time off' from anything school-related, but its not - with all the homework we have to do. We might as well go to school 7 days a week, because it is basically the same thing as spending 5 days at school a week, and doing homework on weekends. |

It would be good for a number of reasons, including: * Prepares students more for a job, if they are going to go straight from school to working (they could adapt universities to this, too, somehow...) * Teachers would be able to help students if they get stuck on their "homework" * Can't really think of much more... |

| 155222 | 2003-06-30 09:24:00 | And a very long holiday is something we would love, wouldn't we? but with holidays, you have to find something to do, and most things require some money, something that not everyone has heaps of... any ideas of things people can do that costs NOTHING? |

| 155225 | 2003-06-30 10:08:00 | Ok.. Well, some people know I've been surfing KaZaA recently (no, not for MP3's either), for "different" type books. An example of this is that we brought Harry Potter and the Order of the phoenix (I may as well stick with the threads origional purpose)... So I searched for "Harry Potter and the order of the phoenix" on KaZaA... It's amazing.. Out of the ~100 files I downloaded, only two were accurate (and one I had to get agent to send me). The others were varients, each had their differences. One involved males and puberty (hmm...), one involved a new character, one involved a character which dies in book 5 and so forth... Seeing as there's so much like this going around, make a book like this and distribute it via P2P channels. Or, do an online stats project type thing: Setup several different email accounts, and subscribe them to different things - use one for online forms, one for chat rooms, one for forums, and so forth... See what one get's the most spam, and give us the results - make a nice long article about it! Would be an interesting read. Otherwise feeding the ducks at Western Springs is always something to do... CyberChuck |

Get a reality check. Most working people leave home at 7am to get to work to start at 8am, do 8 hours work (they are at work 8.5hrs)don't get home till 6pm All this free time you talk about is taken up with cooking, washing, luxing, gardening, house maintenance..... Schoolkids haven't got the worry of earning enough money to pay for Food, Power, Telephone, HP, Rent/Mortgage, Car maintenance, Clothes, Entertainment, Medical/Dental, SchoolFees etc, etc, etc, etc etc Need I go on more |
