155182 2003-06-26 05:49:00 What´s with this not digitally signed by MS carry on?
Are they allready trying to control what progs we run?
Isnt intel and amd making cpu´s that are going to do that also?
What is the point of buying a pc if you cant do what you want with it?.

155183 2003-06-26 05:54:00 Its just Winblows moaning that CloneCD havent forked out megabucks to MS so MS can insert a few lines of extra code into the software to remove the 'nagging ads' as such!
Im personally not gonna even think about poking Paladium/DRM/Longhorn with a 10ft pole!
Im happy with RedHat 9 for the time being.. cant wait for next release ;-)

155185 2003-06-26 06:36:00 Back on topic:

I hope you guys have heard that you can get around copy-protected CDs by simply using a marker and drawing around the outside rim...

It was all over the news when some guy in Europe did it I think. Quite a simple method.

Search up on it, because I'm not too sure about what exactly the details are.

That said, I've never needed to use it, I've made a copy of just about all my audio CDs onto my HDD, for backup purposes, and it also proves very handy when I simply can't be bothered getting the CDs themselves into the CD player (as it takes six discs, and I figure I might as well fill up all six slots, but can't be bothered deciding on which ones to put in).

As a side note, and because this is a public forum, I have not distributed my backup copies to anyone at all.

I see the RIAA is now issuing US$150000 lawsuits to users of Kazaa who allow people to take songs and movies off their hard drives. At the moment, they're saying to avoid a lawsuit, simply disable sharing with others.

155187 2003-06-26 07:10:00 Hey PJ
I put a sound system in the Christchurch Media Club last Thursday for a very metal gig they hosted there...
I got time off duty and went and lay in the twuck outside for a while.
The sound through the walls sounded like a jet
engine with vocal roars (my poor sound system :( )
