| 155572 | 2003-06-27 04:54:00 | Hi. Everytime I open a fresh brower, the homepage is reset to "%77%77%77%2e%63%6f%6f%6c%77%77%77%73%65%61%72%63%6 8%2e%63%6f%6d about:blank" which makes it coolwwwsearch.com, some stupid ad page. I've tried alot of things (running the latest adaware, installing IE6 service pack 1)but to no avail. Any help, please? |

| 155573 | 2003-06-27 04:56:00 | I forgot to say that I can't install any virus definition updates because NAV wants me to pay for liveupdate. Does anyone know where the free defintions are? | Mr. T (4075) | ||

Let me guess your subscription service has expired, if so try uninstalling NAV & reinstalling it, it may work, also try AVG( free): http://www.grisoft.com/ |

In adaware have you done a complete scan??? Also try SpyBot (do a search of Press f1 & you can find where to download it :)) & In IE go to tool > Internet option & you can change your home there. Hope this helps |

| 155577 | 2003-06-27 09:47:00 | Hi Mr. Try this. Tools > Internet Options, general tab > Settings > View Objects. Look for any suspicious looking files in there, check there properties to see who owns them or what their depencies are (this methd worked for me a couple of times for clocksync). Also do a search for cool or coolwww and see wahat pops up plus check add/remove for new apps. Try Spybot as suggested, set to inocculate nothing should take over your home page again. There's also a very good FAQ on this subject on PF1. HTH Murray P |

| 155579 | 2003-06-27 10:25:00 | Thanks Greg, I was too lazy to link them :8} Mr. While I'm on Spybot, it has an option to: lock Hosts File, Lock IE Homepage. So once you have it sorted, give that a go if you want. Cheers Murray P |
