155680 2003-06-27 22:25:00 When I switch on the computer it shows drive activity for about 30 seconds & then does nothing until I press the reset button.

Sometimes it stops half way through its boot ( XP Home & ME ), which is very annoying as we have to go through the performance of scanning the drives ( never finds anything! )

Another odd thing is that in ME, Front Page 2000 will not save properly unless the files are in a 'temp' folder, or has a 'temp' folder in the tree.
Its OK in XP.

I dought if programs running in ME could right to a NTFS partition. I suspect that is why you canno save while running in ME.

Probably the best way around this is to make sure that "~\where\i\save\stuff " lives on a FAT32 part of the HDD

As for your (non)booting problem; PASS!

This is the procedure, to work back and think when it was last working right and what you (or someone else with access) did .

Or in XP you can use that 'goback' or what ever it's called. Escapes me at the moment, restore. That's what you want. Try using restore to go back to good booting.

155683 2003-06-27 22:50:00 Do you use a dual-boot system? as you mention XP and ME. Also, does anything at all appear on the screen ? Pheonix (280)
155684 2003-06-28 12:00:00 It is dual system on FAT32. XP & ME are on hidden partitions controlled by "Boot Magic"
Everything works fine once it is up and running.
