| 155984 | 2003-06-28 22:28:00 | is it possable to make roaming users without Win2kServer, NT Server or any Win Server because i'm running a Win2k network but i dont want to pay the Server licences ($1000-$2000) any ideas? |

Get Linux communicating with the rest of your network ok (pings) Add all the users and passwords into Samba then configure Samba to be the domain controller. Tell Windows that it is to log onto a domain and that should do it... With this setup, you can also have home directories stored on the Linux Server, so no matter where you log in, you always have access to your home directory - our school just maps a drive to the users home directory - makes it easier for users. For emails, our school uses registry tweaks which pulls the username and adds @domain.com to it, get's the password for authentication purposes, and then puts the users full name as the sender of the message...
