Get bootvis tool from microsoft download site. Turn off services you never use, remote assistance etc rsnic (3780)

155977 2003-07-05 02:34:00 I completely wiped out windows a week ago with a fresh install. No more slow bloated SP1. Made a huge difference! My computer works really nice now :) I'll stick with no patches and a good firewall until Msoft bring out SP2 or something.

So, go for a fresh install of Xp, and don't update if you like performance :p

Sorry PoWa But there is patches to fix the performance issue!

Also you are leaving your self-wild open to hackers & viruses & other bad things…

Also viruses can close down your firewall.

Here is one of the BIG hole that SP 1 fixes (grc.com) & also under SP 1 you can run different Programs which will not run on XP before SP 1 was release.

155979 2003-07-05 06:52:00 How much ram do you have on your computer? what is the speed of your computer? what video card are you using? how full are your drives?
have a look in the pressf1 FAQ's there is a couple on performance issues in there.

155980 2003-07-05 07:52:00 Thanks Stu, I downloaded the Xpidite, and Plug n Play fix and ran them. I know I might be slightly at risk, but I would much prefer that, than have a bogged down computer. I need all the processing powa I can get :) PoWa (203)
