156327 2003-06-30 04:24:00 i have been doing a search on the net on educational books, for school as in text book stuff. but am unsure as to what reference to look up.

i am doing 0-5 early childhood, and would like to find names of books to source. text books such as development and lifespan materials

and if i could hold of any books secondhand would be better.

i have looked up bookstores, bookshops and books, psycology, and i have human development, and lifespan through the ages (or something like that)

but i cannot find a list of these sort of books any where, such as recomended to read for education class's etc.
does any one know of a good web / url or suggest a name of book or author along these lines?

also would like books on all ages but mainly 0 - 5 years approx.
health and development

i know this is a long shot and not computer stuff but am going round in circles here looking for the needle in the haystack like.

key words early childhood, books, education, psychology have tried.

anybody?

156328 2003-06-30 05:40:00 Search engines aren't very useful if you don't know the way the "engineers" think. :D

In Google, try using "child development" with "bibliography", or "books". You can limit the search with "site:edu" or "site:ac.uk" or "site:ac.nz" or "site:edu.au" for US, UK, NZ, or Australian universities.

156329 2003-06-30 05:53:00 beetle. Surely you have tried the Wanganui Library??? PJ Poppa John (284)
156330 2003-06-30 06:55:00 well know i havent PJ because i cant leave here,
one i am the only one here and cant leave the station (as such) and

two i dont have wheels since i am the only one here

three they also do not have much in stock along the lines i have been looking past experience has told me and my class mates have told me too,

and four the ucol library is btter but as i am not a ucol student i cant borrow the books, . . . .

and five i want a decent list so i can order some from our local student bookshop . . . .

and six i dont have a lot of spare time so going to the library is not always on top of my list of places or faces to see, but am working on that .

so sorry no PJ havent . . . . .

so sad all round here

any other suggestions?
will try the other suggestion for my search engine techniques to expand . . . . . . . . .

thank you

156331 2003-06-30 07:07:00 Hi Beetle

Have a search through the database of Techbooks (www.techbooks.co.nz) which are based in Auckland. I did a quick search using teaching children and got some interesting hits.

156332 2003-06-30 07:07:00 If you are after second hand educational books, have you tried typing:

second hand educational books "New Zealand" into Google? I did, and got 62900 hits .

Maybe start from there .

156333 2003-06-30 07:52:00 um yes TW i had done that search but thought maybe other people could give me some ideas and a fresh perspective on search and that is exactly what has happened, thanks to all helpful hints and search tools qouted.

with that many hits on the search you did, doesnt it make you think why i asked for help to try and narrow down my search field?

thanxs

156334 2003-07-01 04:00:00 The "number of hits" is a bit unhelpful. :D After the first 2 or 3 pages of links, they start to become "marginally relevant". Graham L (2)
