| 156266 | 2003-06-30 00:08:00 | I am awaiting the delivery of a new computer and I intend to partition the Hard Drive with one partition running Windows XP and the other Mandrake 9.1 One potential problem I have is that I exchange files with a club I belong to and these files are in Works 4.5 format. The new computer will have Works Version 7 installed and these is no backward compatibility. The question is: Can I install Wine under the Mandrake distribution and then install MS Works 4.5? If so is the installation of Works straightforward? Pepper2 |

| 156267 | 2003-07-01 06:16:00 | You could try installing Works 4 . 5 to a different folder in Win XP in order to have both versions on Win XP . Not 100% sure if that would work (ie the newer one might detect it and spit the dummy) so I would create a Restore Point prior to trying it . If it does not work you could possibly uninstall Works 7, install Works 4 . 5, then Works 7 to a different folder . That *should* work because I have done that with Office 97 and Office XP, but I had to tell Office XP not to uninstall the older one . If that does not appeal, maybe someone else could answer your original question about Wine and Mandrake . |
