156252 2003-06-29 23:36:00 When I open a certain spreedsheet it will open up as 2 identical windows and when i change some info in one window it gets changes in the 2nd window.

Is there a setting to stop it opening up 2 windows?

156253 2003-06-30 01:36:00 Hi just checking but do you mean the one window is split in two or there are two instances of the workbook? If its the first one, from the menu select Window-Remove Split.

If its the second one then this is strange behaviour that I dont believe is a feature in Excel & would suggest a corrupt workbook or some macro thats creating a second instance of the workbook.

156254 2003-06-30 01:53:00 There are two instances of the workbook. one ends in :1 and the other in :2

I'll look at the macros and see if there is anything

Thanks

156255 2003-06-30 17:40:00 Go to this folder and check for other files, could be one of these settings,or something, I think (my brain is dead as it is 0430am)
C:\WINDOWS\Application Data\Microsoft\Excel\XLSTART
these files will open more than one spead sheet at a time.
Will let you know in more detail if need be later this afternoon

156256 2003-07-01 00:08:00 I have found the answer!!!

If you click on window, new window, excel then opens up a second or third window of the same spreadsheet.

If you save your spreadsheet with these open windows, the next time you open the sheet it will open with the other windows.

You have to close the other windows and then do a save with only one window open if you only want one window open when you open the sheet.

Great feature if you need to see different areas of the same sheet without having to scroll.
