| 156118 | 2003-06-29 08:23:00 | If you have not yet installed Windows98, the easiest thing to do is copy the cab files into a Win98 directory and install from there. This means that when Windows requires it's setup files, it automatically reverts to C:\Win98 (or whatever you called the folder) and doesn't complain about not finding the required cab files.. Otherwise, if you already have Windows installed, you can copy them to a folder (Usually C:\Windows\Options\Cabs, but it can be anything to be honest) and then use a registry tweak to tell Windows where these files are located. First things first, copy over the files Secondly, type Start > Run and then type "Regedit" (without the quote marks) Then, select "My Computer" from within the Registry and click File > Export Type in a filename and click save - this is your registry backup, so save it somewhere with easy access! Now, navigate to: "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ Software\Microsoft\Windows\ CurrentVersion\ Setup" and find the entry called "Source Path". Double click "Source Path" and change the value from D:\WIN98 to C:\Windows\Options\Cabs or whever you copied the cab files to. CyberChuck |
