156170 2003-06-29 14:29:00 Does anyone know if User Accounts in XP can behave differently when it comes to the speed of applications running?

I have two user accounts, for myself and my wife. I have no problems with mine which is probably used the most along with the most memory hungry applications (Flash, Photoshop 7 etc). She uses Excel, Word and IE6 and thats about it!

I have a Dell, 1.8Ghz, 512Mb RAM PC (if that helps diagnose the problem). Ive done the usual Defrag and Scandisks but still no change in the performance on her login.

156172 2003-06-29 20:18:00 Also, how do you change accounts - do you log in first, and then when your wife needs the internet do you fully log out, or do you use Fast User Switching? cyberchuck (173)

clear out the slow xp account of temp files these are stored separately for each user in their own areas
You could also try the microsoft knowledge base on this http://www.microsoft.com click on the support link
I think its related too a user profile as opposed to the os because it is ok for you
good luck

156174 2003-06-29 20:52:00 It seems to be her applications as well. When shutting down from her login I get "Program not responding" - "End Now" messages.
What I have done though is deleted her profile and recreated it from scratch. That seemed to have corrected it...for now! I just have to keep her away from Solitaire now!

I will definately come back here if I need more advice!
Thanks for replying!!
