| 1341711 | 2013-05-17 06:46:00 | Hi, I need a pc for about $1250 (can go to 1350 if I really need to but 1300 is comfortable), I was thinking maybe a GTX 660 with AMD 6 or 8 core, don't need monitor, 8GB ram, and a cheap keyboard and mouse? | 1341714 | 2013-05-17 08:14:00 | imo trademe pc's are pretty crappy, get computer lounge or a similar company to build you something like this: nz.pcpartpicker.com An 8320fx is just a binned 8350, you can achieve the same clock with the 8230 easy. If you need a screen, you can get some cheap ones from aoc, Phillips and asus(? not sure on asus) for around $150-$160, 1920x1080p. If that pushes you too far over budget drop the gpu back to a 660 (personally I'd go for the 7850 if you are willing to overclock). You could also drop the cpu to a 6300fx. |

Not a fan of anything Raidmax (and therefore there power supplies). 700w is a tiny bit overkill, 500w would be fine but I'd recommend 550 - 600. Look for a something from: Antec, Corsair, Enermax, Silverstone or SeaSonic (also make sure it's 80+ Bronze). Here is a comparison between the 660 and 7870: www.anandtech.com I haven't looked at the prices but if the 660 is significantly cheaper it might be a better choice. It only marginally looses in most games but kills in BF3 (AMD optimisation issues there, also note these are 2012 benchmarks so the drivers aren't up to scratch in the 7850 performs better in the 2013 benches in BF3... The 7870 should beat a 7850). Personally I like the 7xxx series AMD cards a lot but the 660 is still a decent option. |

They should be able to sort you out with something, iirc they don't charge for pc builds (I've checked a few quotes against the prices of the parts and they work out the same). I'd leave the screen, mouse and keyboard out though. They can be purchased easily enough elsewhere, depends if computer lounge has what you want or not. If you want you could also build the computer yourself, it's not very hard and there are a few decent guides and videos on the internet.
