1340889 2013-05-12 18:15:00 I recently got a 1TB Western Digital external HDD. One of the utilities it installed is WD Unlocker.
The system interprets Unlocker as a Virtual CD ROM which doesn't make sense to me.

I have searched Western Digital's web site, I have Googled the question "What is WD Unlocker", without an answer.
So, What is it? What is it for?

1340890 2013-05-12 18:29:00 I should mention that Windows Media Player sees WD Unlocker as a drive as well. Vince (406)

The word "Unlocker" does not occur on that page.

1340894 2013-05-13 02:25:00 Being a virtual CD drive makes me think that it's an installer for WD Unlocker. I've seen drives and cameras that emulate a CD drive for their software before. pcuser42 (130)
1340895 2013-05-13 04:50:00 It's that extra partition that caused me trouble and reformatting the whole drive cured it.

Personally I think encrypting a drive is asking for trouble. I've just spent a few days searching for my daughter's passport, emailing her photos of where I've looked, etc, all because she decided to put it in a 'secure' place
