2012-12-06 08:40:00 | Got something off trademe, which was delivered by NZ Couriers... The parcel (no signature required) was left in the letterbox, and someone has come along, opened the parcel and taken the contents The item is only worth about $80 so it's not the end of the world, but it'd be nice to get the $$$ back Does any one have experience in dealing with courier companies over a matter like this?

2012-12-06 08:58:00 | What am I not covered for? We are not liable to pay compensation for loss of, or damage to, an item we carry if: loss or damage is the result of an event beyond our reasonable control; no proof of sending the item can be provided; the loss or damage occurs after delivery; www.courierpost.co.nz

2012-12-06 09:38:00 | 9. Delivery: The goods shall be deemed to have been delivered when they are physically deposited at the address given to the Company by the Customer or consignee for that purpose, or have been collected from the Company’s premises or an authorised agent of the Company. The Customer accepts that no form of acknowledgement that delivery has occurred is required to be obtained except in those instances where the Customer has specified, and the Company has agreed, that the Company obtain proof of delivery...... www.nzcouriers.co.nz Call them up and ask to be doubly sure but I have the understanding that the contract was fulfilled by the courier company - to deliver. The contract ended when the parcel was delivered to your letter box. The letter box is a justified place to deliver the parcel it wasn't just placed on the ground next to the gate...

2012-12-06 09:42:00 | Even though the link above was courier post ( #2), I think you'll find the general wording "the loss or damage occurs after delivery" would apply to all couriers. Its not their fault someone came along and stole it out of the letterbox. They delivered it as they were meant to. If someone wsn't going to be home ( or the location) it should have been addressed to a place where someone can receive it.

2012-12-06 09:45:00 | www.nzcouriers.co.nz We have two general categories for claims, missing items and damaged items. If an item fails to reach its destination and we cannot find it, we begin our “Loss Claims Process” (section 1). If an item arrives at its destination damaged and you feel it is our fault then please refer to section 2 of the following page for our “Damage Claims Process”. If either of these processes find that it is appropriate for us offer compensation, a member of our Claims Department will take you through the “Claims Process” (Working out Compensation - section 3).

2012-12-06 11:08:00 | You'd have to claim insurance, as that delivery isn't their fault. If they'd left it there without a signature, then sure, but the parcel didn't require a signature. Unfortunately that's the key point there :-/ | Chilling_Silence (9) | |
2012-12-06 12:00:00 | I bought a book from Fish Pond a while ago. When the book did not turn up I notified Fish Pond. They told me it obviously went missing in transit and they would have to claim insurance. They sent me another book which I duly received. It was a no signature required courier delivery. It was more than likely left on the doorstep and was stolen. I much prefer a signature required delivery.

2012-12-06 18:19:00 | Depends on whether it was sent signature required or not. I had a GPU delivered by PBT, she signed it her self and said she left it in the letterbox. (Dubious considering it's size). Never got it. I complained and the sender was refunded and I got an apology and bottle of wine from Head of PBT. Courier was sacked. I got another GPU from supplier.....
