1316737 2012-12-06 01:16:00 Apparently Hobsonville has had rather a lot of wind.

Here it just poured.....I had a rather exciting creek running from the spouting drain, across one of my gardens - past the pumpkin fortunately, under the steps and onto the gravel. It's taken a large chunk of my mulch and compost with it.

Might have to install a permanent channel I think, it does flood when it rains, this time rather dramatically.....
No wind here though...just wet and thunder.
One cat inside, the other sitting outside under the eaves looking annoyed.....

1316741 2012-12-06 01:28:00 Hi,

A new news release is available for you to view on the Police website:

Title: Flash floods in Auckland

Auckland Police are advising motorists be mindful of flash flooding on several routes in and around the city due to heavy downpours in the last hour.

Where motorists are already in transit, they should drive to the conditions by slowing down, use headlights and increase following distances.

"Most of all, motorists should be patient and expect journeys to take a little longer than usual this afternoon but, if you don't have to drive anywhere, don't," Inspector Gavin MacDonald of Auckland City Police said.

New Zealand Transport Agency has advised that State Highway 18 between Brigham Creek and Greenhithe Rds is closed due to debris on the road.
