2012-12-04 07:41:00 | I see they have just arrested the guy that attacked a convicted child abuser outside the Tauranga court. To me, they should have given him a medal. (Child abusers are the worst scum that there is)

2012-12-04 08:09:00 | Sure child abusers are scum and deserve to be treated harshly. But that doesn't make it ok for people to just take it upon themselves to do the punishing, that's what the law system is for. Otherwise we may as well just go back to lynchmobs and mob rule and forget about having a legal system and a police force. No system is perfect, but ignoring it and doing things your way in no way helps the situation. If the guy who did the attacking had some personal suffering of himself or a loved one at the hands of this deviant or another like him perhaps we can sympathise with his reasons and go easy on him but if he was just acting out of hate or anger he has issues of his own that need dealing with. Sorry Digby but to me saying the guy deserves a medal is just completely wrong. Maybe we understand why he did it, and maybe we would like to do it ourselves, but neither makes it right or medal worthy to take the law into your own hands. I'm not a believer in encouraging anyone to attack someone else for any reason. The only exception I'd make to that is when defending yourself or someone else from an attack.

2012-12-04 08:19:00 | OK, So lets see what sentence the judge gives the child abuser. As we have had so many lately, to me the only suitable penalty is preventive detention (ie for life) Give out those sentences for a few years, and I am sure it will put these scum off doing it. If it does not, then there are only two alternatives. Castration - physical and a free tattoo on their forehead - "I am a child abuser" And the death penalty - real quick with only one appeal and on tv live. That should put a stop to it.

2012-12-04 08:36:00 | If the Hero Guy attacked Abuser Guy to protect Innocent Child from harm, that can fall under self-defence. If the attack was revenge, sorry, you're out of luck. | pcuser42 (130) | |

2012-12-04 09:49:00 | The Police should have removed the gang member's colours and shoved them down the abuser's throat until he croaked. Shame on you pansy do-gooders who are so against lynch mobs and mob rule. Let's get back to the good old days where men were men and scrum got what they deserved.

2012-12-04 09:52:00 | Yes child abusers can be described as 'scum' but the courts are there to administer justice. I in no way condone vigilante behaviour. Anybody who takes the law in their own hands and dishes out street justice should be dealt with by the courts. | Bobh (5192) | |
