This was after the storm had passed.

1316771 2012-12-07 09:00:00 Well, at 6:50 last night the road was completely dry and no signs of a storm! :stare:

By 6:50 it was long over. I was on the NW Motorway between the City and Te Atatu at about 2:15, which was also after the main event, and it was still utterly hosing down and had been for an hour or more on the Shore. Apart from the occasional hero weaving in and out of the lanes in his hurry to meet God, traffic was crawling in all lanes because of surface flooding and bad visibility so we got down to 20km/hr and less at one stage. It was a virtual white-out but I found that sunglasses improved the contrast and gave better vision.

Earlier on in the afternoon Mrs T and I had been watching the deluge and I went outside to look West to see what my prospects were. It was black-as and there were some massive lightning strikes so I nearly rang my client to put off the job. I finally decided to take the risk, and I was going to go around the head of the harbour and past Hobsonville to avoid the traffic, but when I got to the end of our road, instinct took over and I turned right instead of left, and I'm glad I did, as I'd have never got through.

I was going to a new factory out West in Bruce McLaren Road and when I got there it was well flooded by sheer overload from the roof. I can't help thinking that there must have been some bad design work for that to happen.

Cheers
