1341521 2013-05-19 23:23:00 Yes John I got everything sorted with the help of a very good helpdesk guy in Australia. We connected through e-mail as this gave both of us time to react and think about the problem. In the end the problem lay with NOD32 blocking things, and a quick resetting of an "exclusion" once I knew where to find it fixed everything.

I have downloaded the new update and I am now completely up to date.

Thanks for your follow up interest John.

1341522 2013-05-20 00:56:00 Thanks Richard. I too found the help desk very good. I think they have a lot of practice, because I have seldom if ever found such an obtuse software arrangement. The circular tracks wherein you connect to their site using MyTomTom, and the response is that you don't have MyTomTom installed, download it, install it, reconnect via MyTomTom fresh install, O-Oh, start from the beginning again. Around and around; "Are we having fun yet?".

Interesting that your problem was NOD32 - that never gave me a problem at all; mine was lack of Flash and Java.

Good to know it was sorted. I only need the damn thing because the speedo in my campervan reads low (when the van speedo reads 100kph the van is actually doing 88kph on TomTom). The more accurate speed read out on TomTom might save me a few tickets or glares from motorists who feel I am going too slow... Someone must have put the wrong tires on at some stage.

1341523 2013-05-20 01:31:00 I previously had a Navman MY55 which I have now put in my wife's Honda. This gave me no trouble except when trying to update maps...For $99!!! And they still don't show the Taupo bypass. I bought the TomTom Via620 purely for the screen size, as I was having trouble reading smaller screen sizes. The Via620 has a 6" screen and a dash mount instead of a screen mount. As far as websites go, once properly installed, the TomTom website is a breeze compared with the Navman "Navdesk". Initially I thought the TomTom was rubbish until I got everything set up correctly, and now I think it is brilliant, and has lifetime free map updates. We use it mainly on long trips and for travelling around Auckland, where our family are. Richard (739)
1341524 2013-05-20 04:38:00 Wow, free lifetime map updates! I got a cheapie from DSE, and all I got was free maps for 1 year! I hope my lifetime is longer than that Richard... John H (8)
