Usual thing was to leave them standing switched off for the same length of time they were moved. zqwerty's suggestion is more likely but you can check the compressor is running. If you cant hear it put your hand on it and see if there is a small vibration. The only real answer is to go for Trev's suggestion and all the experts. They have the right gear. |

I simply asked if the fridge was laid down during transport. Tut has explained the possible ramifications of lying fridges down and the best initial option. (Pull the plug out and leave for 24hrs.) If that doesn’t fix it, my guess is you’ll have to be charged with endangering the Earth by discharging refrigerant into the atmosphere. ;) The punishment for that is dining with your friend John. Don't mess about though, turn it off for half an hour, turn it back on - if it's not fixed talk to an expert. |

| 1315973 | 2012-12-03 01:35:00 | Personally, I won’t shift a Fridge or Washing Machine lying down and that means carrying as well as transporting. Some reading this will wonder how laying a Washing Machine down could damage it so I’ll explain. It doesn’t matter how you go about emptying most of them, there is always some residual water left somewhere. In the case of F&P SmartDrives, in the bowl under the agitator. Now "Murphy" insists that if the machine is laid down, it is on its back, and when it is carried it is in the same position. ;) That’s where the fun starts because as soon as the control panel becomes lower than the motor end, the residual water pours into the electronics behind the control panel. Given that those electronics are not that dissimilar to a motherboard in your computer the outcome is predictable. To be fair, I have managed to salvage the odd one but usually before it was powered up. :) So there you have it, good luck with the fridge Digby. |

| 1315975 | 2012-12-03 06:41:00 | Yeah, I've heard the same with fridges and laundry gear. Never understood that it was compressor oil - I just thought it was misplaced refrigerant. As for the washing machine, the bowls are fairly feebly suspended, and tipping it over can munt the way it is balanced and suspended. May be best to use one of those trolley things that can keep fridges and washers within 40 degrees of staying upright when being moved... or pay some 'professional' to muck it up for you. |

My first suspect is Zara, fiddling, whoops trying to edit, :D and loosing them. Maybe its deliberate, maybe it isnt, who knows, who cares? One thing I do know is this forum has gone backwards since Bruce & Rob left. |
