1340885 2013-05-12 12:04:00 The kids have beaten me - I have no idea how they did it!

Every year a group of Rotary Clubs run Soapbox Derbies for children - and a few years ago I created the "Video Award" for our one. This year Waitakere Primary managed to include a flying bug and a dinosaur walking down the track. Absolutely brilliant!

Does anyone know of any free software to include animations like this? Or should I go and ask the ten year old how he did it...

1340886 2013-05-12 22:05:00 That dinosaur may have been like stop motion animation or something? Dont know if there are any free programs that can do this, but Videostudio x6 can. And you can also add the quotation things to a video. But its not free

Looks like this is free and small. But I've never tried it (en.kioskea.net)

But I dont know what format (it saves it in)

1340888 2013-05-13 02:11:00 Hi Paul,
As Project Manager for the Waitakere Rotary Soapbox Derby I've heard this before...

"Back in the days a soapbox cart was made of wood, pram wheels and string. We'd start at the top of the lane, crash into the hedge in a tangle of arms and legs, laugh and do it again and again..."

We use kit set cars from the All American Soapbox Derby with the NZ Champion competing in the world finals in Akron, Ohio in July. Last year's champion was a 10 year old girl from Auckland East.

At our races the cops have put speed cameras on them - and then issued "fines" (for things like "going to fast", "not going fast enough", "taking out an innocent hay bale"....) Race speeds are over 50km/hour. Home built carts tend to have a higher centre of gravity and don't tend to last the distance on our tracks.

But I really do like the dinosaur and would like to use similar things in my other Rotary videos if I can find them :-) Any clues to an on-line library?
